What is the difference between Resin Bound and Resin Bonded?
Resin Bound Surfacing
Resin bound surfacing is made by mixing specific measures of aggregate and resin in a specialist mixer for the calcutated times, it is then trowelled down to a smooth finish with no loose stones.
Depths to which this surface is laid at is dependent on the use but it will need to be one of the following, 12mm, 16mm, 18mm or 24mm.
It is suitable for both external surfacing, internal flooring and is a low maintenance option for tree pits.
Resin bound surfacing is water permeable which means it is SUDS compliant (sustainable Drainage Systems) this is UK government legislation that came into effect in October 2008.
Standard Resin bound surfacing is a high strength resin system that is most suitable for buff to brown coloured aggregates.
Ultra Violet Resistant Resin highly resistant to UV light and is the resin system of choice for light coloured aggregates where any weathering of the resin binder may be noticed.

SUDS are surface water drainage management methods and devices, designed to tackle excess water in a sustainable and economical way.
Surface water needs to be removed particularly in built up areas in order to prevent flash flooding. Our resin bound surfacing has been specially developed so that it allows water to freely drain through the surface helping to prevent the rapid surface water runoff that causes flooding.
During dry weather periods as our resin bound surfacing is pervious trees can still be watered or fed by simply watering over the resin around their base.
Resin Bonded Surfacing
Resin bonded surfacing is known as a scatter system, this provides texture and gives the appearance of loose gravel.
A Layer of specialist resin is applied and then completely covered with loose aggregate, once the surface has cured (the required time has elapsed) all the loose aggregate is removed.
The depth of resin bonded surfacing is determined by the size of the aggregate used but a 1-3mm aggregete will have a depth of approximately 4mm.
Resin bonded characteristics result in the finished surface being a rugged texture.
The aggregates used stand proud of the resin it is secured in which gives the appearance of loose gravel on your driveway, path or garden area.
Resin bonded sufacing is aesthetically pleasing and will compliment a host of different environments whether it is luxury or conservational it is naturally harmonious.Various types and colours of compatible aggregates are available from subtle cream limestone's to bold red granites. This surfacing system provides an attractive highly durable solution that gives both exceptional adhesion and a long lasting finish.
